検索広告は分かりやすいのだが，RSSフィード広告は今一つピンとこないでいた。そのRSS広告について，BusinessWeekの記者ブログ“blogspotting”で，FeedburnerのCEOから聞いた話が紹介されていた。

コンテンツに連動したRSS広告の経験談である。BlackBerryの広告をRSSフィードに組み込んだのだが，うまくいかなかったというのだ。 BlackBerryをテーマにしたブログのRSSフィードにBlachBerry広告を挿入したのだが，アテが外れたようだ。

記者ブログでは次のように解説していた。RSSフィードを介して来るユーザーと検索エンジンを介して来るユーザーとは，タイプが違うとのことだ。RSS フィードを見て訪問するユーザーは，おそらくターゲット化したブログのリピーター読者である。BlackBerryをテーマにしたブログの読者なら， BlackBerryの所有者のはず。つまりBlackBerryの広告を見せても，購入にはあまり結びつかないとのこと。一方，検索エンジンを介して来るユーザーは，BlackBerryなどのケータイを調べようとする人である。こちらの方が，BlackBerryの新規購入者になる可能性が高そうだ。

納得できる話である。検索広告とRSS広告の違いが，少しだけ分かったような気がする。
